The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers have added another arm to the bullpen today with the signing of Gaku Ueda (LHP).

Ueda, 24 (Hyogo, Japan) began the 2025 IBL season with the Guelph Royals, where in 17 appearances, Ueda accumulated 23 strikeouts over 22.1 innings pitched with 1 win, 2 saves, a 4.83 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP.

This past winter, Ueda played for Japan in the Caribbean Series, along with teammate Mitsuki Fukuda. He also played for the Leones de Barranquilla of the Colombian Winter League. In Colombia, Ueda had a 1.26 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP, 2 saves and 25 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched. Previous to that, he played for the Ishikawa Million Stars of the Baseball Challenge League in Japan.

With the teams latest signing from Japan, Chatham-Kent is quickly becoming the Western Hemisphere's version of the "Land of the Rising Sun".
