Gil pitched in the big leagues for the Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1976-1979. Following his playing career, he became a coach in numerous MLB organizations as well as Indy clubs such as; Toronto Blue Jays, New-York Mets, Trois-Rivieres Saints, Empire States Greys. Rondón was a coach for Puerto Rico during the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He was also a pitching coach for the Bravos de León of the Mexican Baseball League for the 2018 season. In the recent years, before coaching the Barnstormers, he managed in the Frontier League, the Empire State Greys.
Gil was born in Bronx, New-York, but currently live in Florida and will be in Chatham-Kent in a few weeks.
